Eubacterium limosum

RANK: Species

TAXONOMY: Terrabacteria group -> Firmicutes -> Clostridia -> Clostridiales -> Eubacteriaceae -> Eubacterium -> Eubacterium limosum

OVERVIEW:

Identified as a constituent of the oral microbiome by Human Oral Microbiome Database. Eubacterium limosum (strain KIST612) is an acetogenic Gram-positive bacterium frequently isolated from an anaerobic digester and has a high growth rate on synthesis gas (CO; carbon monoxide) using it as a sole energy source. This organism produces acetate as well as butyrate and ethanol as fermentation products from syngas.

This species has been identified as a resident in the human gastrointestinal tract based on the phylogenetic framework of its small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences.[PMC 4262072]
