Bacteroides caccae
RANK: Species
TAXONOMY: Bacteroidetes/Chlorobi group -> Bacteroidetes -> Bacteroidia -> Bacteroidales -> Bacteroidaceae -> Bacteroides -> Bacteroides caccae
OVERVIEW:
Bacteroides caccae (GenBank Accession Number for 16S rRNA gene: X83951) is a member of the division Bacteroides. In one comprehensive 16S rDNA sequence-based enumeration of the colonic microbiota of three healthy adult humans, it represents, on average, 2.806% of all 16S rDNA sequences and 5.886% of the sequences in its division (Eckburg et. al. (2005)). The sequenced strain was obtained from ATCC (ATCC# 43185). This is from the Human Gut Micrbiome Initiative.
This species has been identified as a resident in the human gastrointestinal tract based on the phylogenetic framework of its small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences.[PMC 4262072]
