RANK: Species

TAXONOMY: Proteobacteria -> Gammaproteobacteria -> Pseudomonadales -> Pseudomonadaceae -> Pseudomonas -> Pseudomonas aeruginosa group -> Pseudomonas citronellolis

OVERVIEW:

Pseudomonas citronellolis is a Gram-negative bacterium that is used to study the mechanisms of pyruvate carboxylase. It was first isolated from forest soil, under pine trees, in northern Virginia, United States. Based on 16S rRNA analysis, P. citronellolis has been placed in the P. aeruginosa group.P. citronellolis has also been found capable of the biosynthesis of polyhydroxyal-kanoates from "linear mono- and dicarboxylic acids", a type of bacteria synthesized polyester.
