L-Proline

L-proline is a non-essential amino acid that can be derived from L-glutamate. L-proline has been found to act as a weak agonist of the glycine receptor and of both NMDA and non-NMDA glutamate receptors. It has been proposed to be a potential endogenous excitotoxin. Fodos highest in L-proline are gelatin, cottage cheese, beef and soy.
