L-Arabinose

L-Arabinose is an aldopentose monosaccharide. In biology, most monosaccharides are almost always more abundant in nature in the "D-" form, however, L-arabinose is more common than D-arabinose in nature. It is found as a component of hemicellulose and pectin. Organic acid tests check for the presence of arabinose, which indicates the overgrowth of intestinal yeast such as Candida albicans.
