Thiosulfate


Thiosulfate is produced by the reaction of a sulfite ion with elemental sulfur, and by incomplete oxidation of sulfides. Some bacteria can metabolize thiosulfates. Sodium thiosulfate is involved in the detoxification of cyanide.
