Norepinephrine

Norepinephrine is an organic chemical in the catecholamine family that functions in the human brain and body as a hormone and neurotransmitter. The general function of norepinephrine is to mobilize the brain and body for action and is sometimes termed “the fight or flight hormone” because it increases arousal, alertness, restlessness, anxiety, heart rate, blood pressure, release of glucose from energy stores, and blood flow to skeletal muscles. Norepinephrine and other catecholamines can also facilitate the removal of iron from Lf and can supply it for bacterial growth.
