High fiber diet

A high fiber diet includes abundant plant foods including fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Animal products do not contain fiber and processed foods are often low in fiber. A diet high in fiber normalizes bowel movements, maintains bowel health and feeds gut bacteria, lowers cholesterol levels, helps control blood sugar levels, and aids in achieving a healthy weight. Cultures that eat high fiber diets of upwards of 50g per day have diverse beneficial gut bacteria and the low rates of colorectal cancer.
