Cloacibacillus

RANK: Genus

TAXONOMY: cellular organisms -> Bacteria -> Synergistetes -> Synergistia -> Synergistales -> Synergistaceae -> Cloacibacillus

OVERVIEW:

The description of the genus Cloacibacillus follows that of Ganesan et al. (2008) with the following modifications and additions. The ability to grow on mucin and mucin components, as a sole carbon source, is a trait shared by members of this genus. Cells are glucose non-fermenters, but can grow on fucose. The predominant fatty acids include iso-C 15 : 0 and iso-C 15 : 0.

This genus contains microbial species that can reside in the human gastrointestinal tract. [PMC 4262072]
