OVERVIEW:

Belongs to the cultivable cluster of the phylum 'Synergistetes' and related to Jonquetella anthropi [1].After 7-day incubation on Fastidious Anaerobe Agar plates (incorporating 5 % horse blood), strains of this species form circular, entire, high convex colonies around 1 mm in diameter.Found in the human mouth and vagina.Has been isolated from dvanced dental caries, acute dentoalveolar infections and subgingival plaque in periodontitis.Identified as a constituent of the oral microbiome by Human Oral Microbiome Database.

This species has been identified as a resident in the human gastrointestinal tract based on the phylogenetic framework of its small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences.[PMC 4262072]
