High sugar diet

Sugars are naturally found in fruits and milk products, but the majority of sugars in the typical American diet are added to foods during processing to improve palatability. Added sugars supply abundant calories, but few or no essential nutrients and no dietary fiber. Added sugars include high fructose corn syrup, white sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, corn syrup solids, raw sugar, malt syrup, maple syrup, pancake syrup, fructose sweetener, liquid fructose, honey, molasses, anhydrous dextrose, and crystal dextrose.Reducing consumption of these sources of added sugars will lower calorie content of the diet, without compromising its nutritional adequacy.
