Anaerostipes caccae

RANK: Species

TAXONOMY: Terrabacteria group -> Firmicutes -> Clostridia -> Clostridiales -> Lachnospiraceae -> Anaerostipes -> Anaerostipes caccae

OVERVIEW:

Identified as constituent of vaginal microbiome. [PMID:23282177]

This species has been identified as a resident in the human gastrointestinal tract based on the phylogenetic framework of its small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences.[PMC 4262072]

Anaerostipes caccae was found to be protective for mice against allergic response to cows' milk allergy. In a study where germ-free mice were colonized with bacteria from healthy infants without cows' milk allergy, this species protected the mice against anaphylactic responses to a cows' milk allergen.
