Yokenella

RANK: Genus

TAXONOMY: cellular organisms -> Bacteria -> Proteobacteria -> Gammaproteobacteria -> Enterobacteriales -> Enterobacteriaceae -> Yokenella

OVERVIEW:

Rod-shaped cells, conforming to the general definition of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Contain the enterobacterial common antigen. Gram negative. Motile, with peritrichous flagella. Facultatively anaerobic. Catalase positive (weak). Oxidase negative. Ferment, rather than oxidize, d-glucose and other carbohydrates. Reduce nitrate to nitrite.

The mol% G + C of the DNA is: 58–59.3 (Tm ).

Type species: Yokenella regensburge

This genus contains microbial species that can reside in the human gastrointestinal tract. [PMC 4262072]
