OVERVIEW:

Rod-shaped cells 0.6–0.7 × 1.3–1.9 µm, conforming to the general definition of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Gram negative. Motile, with five to nine peritrichous flagella. Grow at 15°, 20°, and 37°C. Facultatively anaerobic. Catalase positive, strong and rapid. Oxidase negative. Nonpigmented. Reduce nitrate to nitrite.

Type species: Cedecea davisae
