ARGONAUT: Flexible control over your data

ARGONAUT is a highly flexible search and sort tool that allows you to easily navigate through the client's genotype results from the Opus 23 Pro database. ARGONAUT allows you filter your search results and sort the filtered results. In many ways ARGONAUT is the 'mission control' for notating SNPs or genes in Opus 23 Pro, and as such it is probably the best place to start your curation workflow.

Getting around in ARGONAUT

From the 'Informatics' link on the main menu, hover over 'Queries' until a second menu list appears, then select ARGONAUT. You will then be presented with the default table which shows 'everything', and is sorted by SNP 'power factor' or magnitude.

ARGONAUT data screen.

At the bottom of the window is a jump table that allows you to move from one screen to the next. You can control how many rows to display by selecting an option from the 'Show' pull down menu. The default is 15.

Filtering and sorting results

There are over 100+ pages of SNP data in ARGONAUT, which would make grinding through the data rather impractical. To deal with large amounts of data, ARGONAUT features a 'filterable' display. Type full or partial search terms into the search box at the upper left hand corner and ARGONAUT immediately displays only those results.

The ARGONAUT table displays the following data by column: Gene Symbol, SNP, Specifics (extra SNP identifiers, i.e. 'C677T'), Risk Allele, Client Genotype, Outcome, Power Factor and Keywords. Data from all columns will be included in the search.

Click on any gene or SNP to trigger its information pop-up. Click on the Notepad icon to add or edit a note for that SNP. If you want to create a note for the gene, click on it to open up its information pop-up, then press the 'Add/Edit' button.

ARGONAUT columns are sortable. Click on any column title to sort by that column. Click that column again to reverse the sort order. To see a search example enter "COMT" and "++" in the search box to return all SNPs homozygous for the risk allele of COMT, click on the "Power Factor" column heading to sort the results by Power Factor.
