Uploading Raw Data

Opus 23 Pro uses a text file from 23andMe.

Opus 23 Pro can also read text files from other DNA testing companies, such as Ancestry.com, but is optimized for 23andMe, please contact us for compatibility.

When you download your raw data from 23andMe it will be in a ‘zip’ file format (compressed to reduce the size). Some computers will automatically ‘unzip’ these files after downloading. If this happens, you will need to zip the file again before uploading to Opus 23 Pro:
  • On a PC in Windows Explorer right click the file, point to Send to and select 'Compressed (zipped) folder'. To rename the file right click and type in the new name
  • On a Mac select the file in the Finder and right click or Control click, then select 'Compress'. To rename the file, right-click and type in the new name
Importing Raw Data:

Selecting this option will present you with a form that allows you to import 23andMe raw data.

In order to upload client data you must have at least one open upload slot available on your current Opus 23 Pro license. Complete the following steps:
  • Enter the required fields (Name, Gender, Year of Birth, Ethnicity) and click on the Choose File button. This opens an Explorer window (PC) or Finder window (Mac)
  • Navigate to the Downloads folder of your computer (or to wherever you have saved the zipped raw data file) and select the file. The file will take some time to upload, and most browsers will show a progress bar
  • Once uploaded, the client’s profile will appear in the ‘Load / List Profiles’ section of Opus 23 Pro alongside the sample client
  • Click on your client’s last name to load their data into Opus 23 Pro
  • Their name will now appear in the top left corner of Opus 23 Pro to show that the client is currently loaded
You are now ready to explore that client’s genome using the applications in the program and produce reports based on their data. For more information, see 'Working with Data' in the next section

Virtually every aspect of Opus 23 Pro requires that you have loaded an active client's genotype. If you try to run an app without having first loaded a client genotype, Opus 23 Pro will alert you and gently suggest that you do so.
