Help DocsMAPPER Global Analysis modeWhen you first load a map into MAPPER you start in 'Global Analysis' mode, where the map displays gene data as elements of the current client's genotype. Interpreting MAPPER gene data It's perhaps easiest to think a gene 'box' in MAPPER as the equivalent of the battery icon on a smartphone: If there are bars all across the battery icon it's probably at full charge; however as the battery loses power, the bars get shorter from right to left. MAPPER uses the same iconography to tell you about the status of the genes in its network. Let's list an interpretation of the network Global Analysis to make things clear:
Clicking the 'Power Analysis' link at the top of the map changes the display to the Power Analysis view to estimate total gene function. MAPPER gene functionality numbers are 'guesstimates' at best, since it is impossible to account for all factors contribution to the activity level of a gene. However, these numbers can be helpful in a broad sense. Layout The Mapper uses standard network pathway symbols. Genes are in boxes with bold outlines, gene products, substrates and inhibitors are in boxes with grey outlines. A line ending with a circle at a gene signifies that the molecule is metabolized by the gene or genes. Cofactors along the pathway that they assist are colored grey: A line ending with an arrow signifies the direction of metabolism: A line ending with a transverse line signifies inhibition: |
